The wind eventually came back to Gera Lario for this last day of the 1st stage of the « Como Lake Kiteboard World Cup » , which made the start of the speed crossing possible. After the first skippers meeting at 8 am, the 38 registered riders gathered to Cremia for the start of the race in the early afternoon. Driven by a regular northern wind, the competitors rushed forward the arrival at Gera Lario; although this race format requires high physical capacities and a strong endurance, most riders carried out the 16kms distance with no big pain, and the race finished quite smoothly. The French Pierre Romain arrived first, closely followed by Charles Deleau; Sebastien Cattelan took the 3rd place.
The women ran very fast as well, proving their ability to catch up with the men once again, especially Gisela Pulido, the first passing the arrival post, before Anna Sparre and Noelia Nunez. Once all the riders reached Gera Lario, the race direction did another briefing to start the double freestyle men elimination; although the wind kept blowing, we had too short time left to finish off the loser bracket; the first elimination results are therefore definitive.
