Almost two weeks from the kick off of the Jim Beam Cabo Frio Kiteboard World Cup, 3rd stage of the 2005 KPWT, and we already can announce a beautiful competition board.
Indeed, this specific event, mixing freestyle and wave riding is attracting more and more pro riders everyday on the online pre-registrations.
Sure that the Wave Masters session scheduled as an aside competition additionally represents a particular challenge for most riders : it promises a thrilling fight on the water between the waves specialists and the freestyle stars, nonetheless highly skilled in wave riding!…
The competition board is therefore composed of a variety of riders, in terms of nationalites – 12 countries represented so far ! - and styles – wave riders, freestylers.
Needless to say, the members of the 2005 KPWT top 6 will be there : face to the 2005 leader, Mickael Fernandez (FR), we’ll thus find Antoine Auriol (FR) and Charles Deleau (FR), 2nd equal in the world ranking; yet the menace might come from the italian Stefano Maselli, 4th in the ranking, revelation of the year! The young freestyler Thomas Coquelet (FR), ranked 5th , will on this event have to prove that he’s as good in waves as on flat water, and beware of Ruben Salvador (SP) newcomer on the KPWT and ranked 6th , who astonished everybody during the last event in Turkey.
Face to them, the best brazilian riders will defend their country : among others, we expect the members of the national Top 5, Marcelo Cunha, Reno Romeu, Bernardo Monteiro, Marc Conrad.
Others nationalities will be highly represented : Portugal with Nuno Figueiredo and Tiago Rocha, Russia with Evgueni Novozheev, Spain with the local champion Ivan Vergel, Australia with Miguel Willis, etc…
To finish, the women board is, like in the last stage in Turkey, composed of confirmed talents, like Noelia Nunez, the spanish leader of the 2005 world ranking, Julie Simsar (FR/Tur) who won the last event, and of course the 2004 world champion Gisela Pulido. Face to them, the Brazilian Champion, Carol Freitas, might nonetheless bring changes in the present ranking…
