The PKRA riders are in full force here in Iles de la Madeleine, Canada for PKRA World Tour event number six, The Iles de la Madeleine Kiteboarding World Cup.
The conditions were gusty ten to sixteen knots just barely enough for PKRA competition. While the PKRA race director waited for the conditions to improve the men and women of the PKRA went out and impressed the large crowd on the beach.
Rui Meira (Portugal, Naish) went out and pulled a mobe seven variation completing two handle passes before landing. This generated a lot of cheering from spectators and competitors alike. When asked to comment Meira said, “I want to do both passes inverted with my kite powered and at forty five. This is what I am working for.â€
At 10 PM PKRA officials started the Single Elimination competition. After abandoning several heats PKRA officials managed to get through eight heats. After heat eight the wind dipped below acceptable PKRA competition standards and the contest was postponed until tomorrow.
The weather forecast calls for steady wind all day tomorrow. Riders meeting will be at 100 AM with the first possible start at 10:30 AM.
