The PKRA World Tour action got started at 10:15 AM here in Iles de la Madeleine for The Iles de la Madeleine Kiteboarding World Cup.
The wind was steady and the water was perfectly flat as the men and women of the PKRA put on an awesome show for spectators on the beach.
PKRA riders were coming right next to the beach taking advantage of the off shore winds to impress the judges and large crowds that formed on the beach during the PKRA competition.
Notable performances in the women’s division by Kristen Boese (GERMANY, JN Kites), Susi Mai (GERMANY, Cabrinha), Bruna Kajiya (BRAZIL, Naish) and local Canadian rider Daphnee Laliberte (CANADA, Takoon).
In the men’s division Aaron Hadlow (UK, Flexifoil) asserted his dominance over Rui Meira (PORTUGAL, Naish) by defeating him in an extremely close heat. Jesse Richman (USA, Cabrinha) battled it out against Ruben Lenten (NETHERLANDS, Slingshot) but in the end it was Ruben who advanced from the heat.
With just five heats remaining in the single elimination PKRA race director Olaf Van Tol had to postpone the event until tomorrow due to decreases in wind speed. Competitors are looking forward to the good conditions tomorrow where they will battle against themselves and Mother Nature in pursuit of the podium.
The weather forecast calls for strong winds from the North East all day tomorrow. Riders meeting will be at 9
0 AM with the first possible start at 9:30 AM.
