Wave Masters and Hang Time validated for the last day of the Jim Beam Kiteboard World cup!!!
The wind luckily kept blowing today on the Praia do Forte for the sequel of events : Wave Masters and Hang Time.
As scheduled the Wave final series started very early this morning to benefit from the swell in Massambaba. The conditions were quite tough when the 20 pre-qualified riders started riding fo the final session : the wind was very strong, reaching some 35 knots off shore, which didn’t make things easy.
But the waves were quite high, reaching 2,5 meters, so the riders did enjoy the session.
The race format was simple : Competitors ride as many waves as they wish during the session without interfering with each other; A rider’s best five waves make up their final score, according to the following criterias : wave riding, kick out and overall impressions.
As expected, we found some of the wave specialists in the top of the ranking, among whom
the Spanish Jose Luengo followed by Hervé Bouré (FR), the 2004 Wave Masters champion; good surprise for Antoine Auriol, better known for his talent as freestyler, who comes third.
The Brazilians who were at home proved very good as well, Bernardo Monteiro and Roberto Rosemblit in particular who take the 4th and 5th place.
On the women side, a few ones had to give up, leaving the way to Gisela Pulido to ead the race once again; she’s followed by the local Carol Freitas in 2nd place.
