Just back from canada ,stayed one night @ home an flew again, to the 8th tour stop of the year Tarifa(Spain).
first day they did the trials so i didn't have to go out,but I went out and got a little bit used to the conditions. The wind is between 25 and 45 knots,so realy gusty and hard, they said the wind would drop down a little bit.
Kevin's Update PKRA Tarifa 2nd Freestyle and 2nd Boardercross Coming home from Canada I spent one day at home to wash my clothes and say HI to my mom and dad. They also lost my boardbag so I was a little bit stressed, but luckily they found it on time so I could pick it up and check it in again.
The flight toke me 2.5 hours so that was a short one!!! I stay with the family Zoon in a nice apartment.
The qualifiers were on the first day. The wind was pretty strong everyone was riding on their smallest kite. I’m in the main event already so I didn’t had to go out. Watching all those guys flying with strong wind is a lot of fun.
The first day of the main event the wind was a little lighter than the day before so that was good. My first heat was against Volpe I had a good heat so passed. In the next heat I had to ride against the little man Madison Van Heurck the wind picked up even more and I was riding on my 6m. Van Heurck is pretty light so he had a big problem with the strong wind. I had a good heat so won. Next up was Lothe I lost from him in Germany so I had to ride a good heat to beat him. And I had a good heat so I passed!!!
So yeah after a good run in the double elimination which dropped me at a fourth place in the Freestyle...We did another round of best trick, my body was a bit dead from the days before, been killing myself on the 7m...But i wanted to win for sure, and there was a lot of crowd on the beach so i went off on my 7m and showed the crowd
Katja's Update Talking about wind… Just graduated and already again in the airplane. The next PKRA event stops in Spain. The first day I arrive, there are no kites in the air. And we are talking about the ‘Mekka’ for surfers and kiters! The wind is blowing 50-60 knots offshore, pfff talking about wind… The event starts Tuesday with the trails for the men. I have the first day off, which is perfect to get used to the sun and the temperature. Wednesday the main event starts. My first heat is against Angela Peral. In these strong winds I probably have a chance against her. I just go for it! I pulled out a lot of powered tricks and a huge unhooked kite loop. But her technical difficulty won over my power and variety. Although it was a 2 to 1 decision by the judges. Really bad luck this time. The double elimination started at Thursday. Only some men heats were done. The wind was less than the last days, so I could train a little with my 8. Free riding is a perfect way to get rid of your nerves. Friday I am in the first heat on the water against Carol Freitas. Again I am really nervous, which results in shitty tricks in the first few minutes. So stupid. But I recover and start to fight back with powered raileys and s-bends. In the end of the heat Carol crashes really hard and puts her kite down.
