We’ve had the Legend 163 cm 2007 from F.One under our feet…. This is not a test but more a 1st feel of our team Flysurf.com:
« The Legend 2007 was tested 2 days. The wind was side, on shore side and with small waves.
The legend 163: this board is accessible, with a good slide and an excellent cape straight on. It grips really well, it is stable and crosses well the choppy and waves. Even if it is more stable and grippy in its directional directions, it still works well on the reverse. This means it is not necessary to jibe face to the wave or on the side « on », it behaves then like a TT and there is no feel of unease when you get the fins frontside. It is even possible to jump though it is not meant for it especially but in this case, have it in the right side! One can jibe. It is a bit technical but possible with experience. One can ride frontside (supports on toes), it is very comfortable.
If you make a bottom, front side surf, the grip is real good and it keeps the trajectory, it keeps the curve without smashing and stays very manoeuvrable without having to force. The bottom is comparable to a pure directional, even if the curves are less fluid. Of course, having less volume, the Legend needs more wind. It is then important to give it more power than a voluminous directional.
The roller is very good and very « grippy », you don’t fear an edge mistake.
Since it is very fast, it is very efficient in difficult conditions. It is also very vivid, able to make true bottoms in a row and allow a riding with the advantages of a twin tip (escape more easily, go back in front of a big wave…).
Conclusion: in a good wind, in the waves, even choppy, the Legend goes really well. It does accept the difficult conditions of waves, choppy, strong wind, and also the perfect waves, it keeps the accessibility of the TT.
It seems to be a bi success for those who want to surf without having to question themselves with a directional and stay versatile. »
