« It is time to leave South of France for a whole week kiting in Northern East of Brazil, in Natal, 600km down Fortaleza. It took us a good 10 hours to reach Natal and here we are, on the road for 1h (82km !) thanks to the transfer organised by Remy at the Sossego surf camp. Remy’s posada is top : a welcome drink is waiting for us, beautiful bungalow and design do brazil, air con, hammock, terrific breakfast with local fresh fruits...
No stress to go kiting, we can check the conditions from the swimming pool of the posada…. So hard is the life ! We may chose between the spot in front of the camp or Barra do Cunhau.
If we chose the first, we take the barge with Remy’s staff and his big land rover and then, it is a 3 minutes rally in the dunes. When low tide, it is flat for freestyle, a sand strip makes the spot ultra flat. When it is high tide, it is possible to catch nice waves with a side shore wind. It’s the spot Rémy uses to give his lessons.
If you chose Barra de Cunhau, you need 30 minutes 4×4 and to river’s crossing on the barges. At the mouth of the river, the spot is 100% flat, excellent for freestyle and entirely off shore ; then, there is a basin that is protected by the reef and then a wave spot side shore very safe. You can even have fresh fish in the fishermen’s cabins right on the spot ! »
Conclusion:
This is worth Fortaleza with a wind slightly weaker. We enjoyed each single day between 16 and 25 knots which made it perfect for 12 and 9m². The wind blows from the morning on and all day long. You can have your surf or rent on to Remy since you’ll find nice waves sheltered from the wind on the reef ; it is possible to surf by kite because of the good orientation of the wind on the spots.
Practical:
The rate of the real : 10 reals are worth 3.6€
1 hour connexion on internet : 3 reals
The fare for a bus ride to Pipa (shopping, craft, restos) :1.5 reals
A meal with plenty of beer in Pipa (churrasqueria) : 22 reals
Electricity plugs are like in france at the poussada
Boardbag are free on the TAP.
Trip : 2h flight from Paris Orly/Lisbonne ; 1 hour transfer ; 7 hours on the TAP up to Natal.

Haha, overigens kitetrips naar nathal zijn tegenwoordig ook georganiseerd door www.kitetrips.nl . Volgend jaar ga ik ook lekker mee:)

340 km boven Fortaleza, in Prea (12 km voor Jericoacoara) heb je Vila Prea, aan 20 km maagdelijk strand, enkel onderbroken door één vissersdorpje, Prea zelf.
Vila Prea: 7 hutjes, basic in ontwerp maar o zo luxueus in realiteit (3 douches en WC en badkamer buiten in een privé-tuintje van 4 m² per hutje, wind in je hutje onder het dak door, net alsof je buiten slaapt,...), met een ongelooflijk persoonlijke, warme en gemeende service door de mensen die er werken.
Side-(onshore) wind om er je klok op gelijk te zetten, strakker dan in Cumbuco, warm water, prachtige sunset-downwinders,... Ik heb er de tijd van mijn leven beleefd.
