thanx to Matthias Larsen @ mckau.de![]() Flight characteristics The Fuel has also this year again a very constant basic pull, however it's been increased somewhat and can be compared with the 2005 Fuels. Now that its got more pull typical for the Fuel the optimal area of application now alreaday starts at the 11m Fuel 2007 rather than that of the 13m Fuels of 2006. It has its best wind range from approx. 15 to 28 knots. Naturally dependent on weight and the board size one could drive probably with 12 to 14 knots and go upwind. The 9m and 7m definately start out later and are very good-natured, against what the 13m and 15m Fuel are rather more aggresiver and start out sooner. One can change each Fuel like 2006 by the proven three different points of tying that front line in its characteristic at any time strongly (Surf/Freeride/Wakestyle). The Kite has on the normal position outside (Surf) hardly transverse forces and pulls fast forward in the wind window, therefore it is still very easy to control when overpowered. In this attitude with additional trims of the 5th line the kite goes upwind incredibly easily. Compared with 2006 it continues to sit however again somewhat in the wind window and is thereby ideally particularly for whatever kind of trick. Due to the standard 5th line, which is to be adjusted manually with a clamp very fast and simply at the Chickenloop, the area of application increases enormously. The 2007er Fuel has also this year again good lift and good hangtime. The steeringforces at the bar still are top, although now two rope-ends, as well as the 5th line go through the bar. The rotating speed is by the 5.Leine and by those much spreads tips very fast. The Kite reacts immediately, turns in a very small radius (all Fuel sizes) and one feels where the Kite stands at all times. In the flight behavior one can compare the Kite already much with the 06er model, however it has clearly more power, which however is still very much controllable. By the adjustment possibilities to the front lines one gets the kite in its characteristics in addition very well adapted to the respective conditions and preferences of the driver. The Fuel is durably and qualitatively extremely high-quality from the processing simply state OF the art, and it still has the trusted One pump system and Split struts. The Design is extravagant and one of a kind in the market with beautiful, simple color combinations and reminds this year somewhat of Batman. ![]() Safety/Relaunch With the 5th line Relaunch is one of the simplest exercises. When one, while the Kite lies on the front tube, pulls on the 5th line considerably and when the clamp fixates the line, the screen tilts quickly onto its back. Then one steers the Kite directly with the upper line to the outside edge and can start it there by slowly releasing the 5th line from the clamp. The Safety system of the bar remained the same for 2007. It is released at the side of the Chickenloops in a solid plastic piece with the help of a split pin. A Leash with Quickrelease is provided and can be fastened either to the 5th line, at both steering lines or also to the Chickenloop. The front lines, as well as the 5th line turn really perfectly after each rotation at a joint at the Chickenloop out and thus guarantee the Safety function of the 5th line. If the Leash is hooked to the 5th line, one must unspin it from time to time. Bar The 2007er bar is only optically similar to the last model. The main difference is the ingenious stopper ball, which was used first with the Slingshot turbo-Diesel last year. One can here very simply and effectively through moving the the stopper ball back and forth change the desired depower! The 5th line integrated at the Chickenloop is very easily adjustable during riding by a clamp. It has also the possibility to be thrown off, if the Kite rotates several times. You only need to ride to the beach on 4 lines to refasten it. The proven adjuster to the front lines, as well as the clamp for the 5th line are together, very cleanly fastened to the Chickenloop this year. This makes the adjuster easier to reach at all times. One can by releasing some screws make the Chickenloop larger or smaller and also take out the rat tail. The proven Slingshot lines have a standard length of 23m this year, more fun for kite loops and Wakestyle tricks... The bar is again held very simply and compactly like each year and makes a very durable impression all over. ![]() Result The 2007er Fuel is hardly to be compared with its predecessor model already purely optically through its Batman Design. According to my opinion Slingshot brought this year the long-proven C-Kite to principle with this model nearly to perfection. The kites have simply an unbelievably direct barfeel you know at all times, without looking, what angle the kite is making and where it stands, which one misses with many Bow and SLE Kites at the market very often. Regarding Depower and Safety, I cannot see a disadvantage with kites of this kind opposite to Bow and SLE Kites. On the contrary, because by using the Leash it is always guaranteed that the Fuel will go to the ground pressureless. Due to its 5th line and the matured shape the Fuel is simply always as a typical conventional C-Kite 100% fun. Slingshot is one of the most innovatie companies on the market and with this kite probably has build the most complete C Kite, which can be found on the market, to date. This year mainly the smaller sizes have made giant step forward made and are simply unbelievably usable allround. Last years large Fuels between 11m-15m had somewhat too little power for light wind, one can say this year clearly all size, like the 13 and 15 again have enough pressure, in order to have good and early fun with the kiting. with the 5th line and different adjustment possibilities at the tips, as well on the bar, the Fuel is not really a beginners kite, but above all however for Intermediates and professionals exactly the correct choice and is ready for any kind of trick.
