Caberete Kitesurf Open 2006
During the last years Cabarete has grown to one of the best and most recognized kite boarding destinations in the world. According to the fantastic wind and water conditions, pro kite boarders choose Kite Beach as their training spot. The Dominican Republic brought out it’s own pro riders who represent their country and their sport worldwide. The great potential of the spot reflects in the fact that the PKRA (Professional Kiteriders Association) is again choosing Cabarete, after 5 years in a row, in 2006 once more as a tour stop for the world cup. The Federacion Dominicana de Kiteboarding and Kite Beach Hotel will organize like every year the Dominican Championships as qualifiers for the PKRA event. For the first time, the 2006 event will be an open competition with separate pre rounds for foreigners and Dominicans. There will be two finals to coronate the Dominican Champion (and the ranking for the wild cards) as well as the best foreign riders. In an overall final the best of each category will compete for the title and the 3000 $ price money and prices.
