One of the fastest kitesurfers on the planet, Alex Caizergues will be the headline act as one of the longest kitesurfing races ever to be staged in Australia sets off in Western Australia during December.



Starting at Phillip Point Rottnest, off the coast of Perth, the inaugural Red Bull Lighthouse to Leighton, presented by the WA Kitesurfing Association (WAKSA) will set sail on Saturday December 11, with competitors speeding across the Indian Ocean on the Gage Roads channel and finishing at Leighton Beach, North Fremantle.

Hailing from France, Caizergues recently clocked nearly 55 kts in the Luderitz Speed Challenge. Think you have what it takes to match it with the flying Frenchman?

The battle for the title of 'the fastest speed sailor in the world is far from over and 50 of Australia’s best kitesurfers will have the opportunity to challenge Caizergues. With the famous Fremantle Doctor wind blowing, the race is expected to take between 30 and 40 minutes for the fastest kiters. The event is made possible with assistance from Fremantle Ports and Royal Life Saving WA.

Not just anyone will be accepted to take on the three times world champ. Applicants must have at least 100 hours of kitesurfing experience and must be a WAKSA or AKSA member to be potentially selected for entry. The race is limited to 50 competitors as selected by event organisers so be sure to get in quick.
