It seems like the wind we had yesterday was the best we were gonna get during the Corona Extra Kite European Championship in Duinbergen. The wind today didn’t reach over an average of 7 knots. This was just enough for Jan Stockman (BE) to pump up his 30 metres and get some kite-kayaking fun in the waves with Mark Shinn (UK). We waited for the wind to come until 15.30h before starting the price-giving ceremony. There was not one North Sea Open Champion 2004 but 8 amongst the men and 6 female champions! Aaron Hadlow (UK), Reinier Korstanje (NL), Leeshai Miller (ISR), Rolf Van der Vlugt (NL), Ruben Lenten (NL), Cees Van Oosterum (NL), Ofri Argov (ISR) and Kevin Langeree (NL) all made it to the quarter finals yesterday and got rewarded. In the women’s division the wind didn’t bring us further than the second round in which Petra Goeshl (GER), Coralie Imbert (FR) and Belgian Champion Kaat Lannoy came up against each other. In the other heat Pauline Boussard (FR), Ariane Saverys (BE) and Anna Sparre (SWE) were waiting to take in the battle against each other… In spite off the lack of wind all the riders had a good time and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. We hope the wind brings you all again next year to the third edition of the North Sea Open Championship and don’t forget to bring the wind along!
