I have ridden the following 2005 Monkeykites and here are some of the thoughts on them. First of all, I am 75 kg and the board is a narrow (34cm) 132cm board.
11m2 medium
A very powerfull kite, I think this is my favorite of all the kites. It has
an enormous amount of grunt, is fast (i only use a pulley so would not
know on a standard bar). It feels stable as a rock in the sky, even in gusty winds. Has been used in winds from 14-25 knots.
14m2 medium
Same as the 11m2, but turns slower.
10m2 high aspect
One of the highest jumping kites around and with a very very big wind range.
12m2 high aspect
Same as the 10m2.
14m2 high aspect
This is the one kite I would get if I where to have only one kite. It can be controlled in serious winds and has a big range. Stable, fast turning and gives great lift.
16m2 high aspect
This kite also has a insain wind range (my mate who weigh the same as me, could hold this kite when I was powered on my 11m2 with 15m lines). It also starts way before the 11m2, you could get going in 10-12 knots of wind with this. Also super stable in the sky.
20m2 high aspect
I would not recommend this, last years model has much more grunt. This kite is not a light wind weapon. It is designed for people who are heavy. I would rather go for the 16m2 high aspect or the 18m2 medium aspect.
I was out yesterday with a 14m2 medium and a skimboard in about 10 knots, and it was off the hocks! I see alot of potensial here!
