Hi to all kiteboarders
I would like to draw your attention to the introduction of the new signs at Big Bay regards to Kiteboarding Guidelines. The signs have taken many months of discussion and meetings with local store owners, lifeguards, law enforcement and riders to set in place and we request that all kiteboarders that use Big Bay to PLEASE follow the following guidelines....
1. No launching or landing from the beach or grassed area directly in front of the phone boxes (please launch downwind of the wooden shed)
2. To remain downwind of all water users at all times ( no riding in the surfers, body boarders and swimmers zone)
3. No riding from the Small Bay car park.
The zones are clearly marked on the signs and require you only move a little way downwind from normal.
It is in the interests of ALL kiteboarders to follow these simples guidelines or we will loose the spot completely. New developers and increase in the potential public using Big Bay will cause an increase of potential accidents. It will only take ONE incident with a small child who is 'CONNECTED' to someone in government and we will loose this spot in a flash. Please think more for the future of the sport than your next 30 mins session. There is plenty of bay to play in.
