PKRA Press Release May 4th 2005, Lake Podersdorf, Austria.
Cloudy skies, rain showers and gusty winds from 15 to 30 knots provided the competition arena for the second PKRA event of the 2005 World Tour.
The competition got off to an early start today with the trials beginning at 7:45 AM. PKRA riders didn’t let the cold northwest wind and rain slow them down at Lake Podersdorf, Austria. The action at the Spark 7 Surf World Cup was heating up when Leeshai Miller broke a foot strap in the trials. Miller used the broken strap to his advantage; opening up his trick bag and unleashing an arsenal of old school foot-off maneuvers that helped him win his heat.

At 9:45 am, with the trials out of the way, the PKRA race director started the main event. Kevin Langeree advanced against fellow Netherlander Ruben Lenten in the quarterfinals, landing himself in the first round semifinal against Ettiene Lhote. Although Langeree rode hard and stomped all his landings, it was not enough to stop the Frenchman on fire; Ettiene Lhote, who defeated Lageree by landing powered, precision wakeboard-style tricks that surely impressed the judges.
Kristin Boese and Angela Peral met in the first round, Peral’s progressive style was impressive to the crowd and judges, but it was Kristin Boese’s polished routine, including a railey to blind and a back mobe, that earned her a well deserved first place. The second round started at 2:50 PM. Kristin rode against Anna Grzelinska in the women’s final, Boese took the victory in the women’s division; her second win of 2005 PKRA World Tour.
Cesar Portas took out Ruben Lenten in a close heat. Kevin Langeree knocked out Cesar Portas, and then went on to defeat Aaron Hadlow. Aaron Hadlow earned 3rd place with impressively consistent riding in difficult conditions. In the second round final it was Etienne Lhote against Kevin Langeree. Both riders rode hard landing a variety of handle-pass and kite-loop maneuvers, however, today there was no stopping Etienne Lhotte from achieving his first PKRA World Tour victory.
