The Lake of Como, Italy, has been chosen as site for the Como Lake Kiteboard World Cup, kick off of the 2006 KPWT season !!!!
At only 20 days from the event, with 70 riders, everything is set to host the KPWT Team, managed by Frédéric Gravoille, that will organize the event with the collaboration of its local partners, Logos Style, led by Paolo Goni, and the support of the event main sponsors : Fiat
This event will be the first leg of the KPWT 06, and as such is sure to attact numerous spectators & medias that will attend a great show offered by a best and dream casting of competitors, who will perform five disciplines : Freestyle, Speed Crossing, Best Tricks, Hang Time contest, Sliders.
Indeed, among the international top pro riders expected at Como, the representatives of 25 nationalities, among whom some “big sizes†of the worldwide kiteboarding scene :
The World Champion of kiteboarding, Thomas Cocquelet, will have to defend his title face to the champions of various european countries : Mickael Fernandez (FR), KPWT 2004 world champion, Max Di Cicco, Italian Champion, Abel Lago & Ruben Salvador, Soufiane Hamaini Champion of Morocco……
They will all have to count on other serious challengers : The french Antoine Auriol, the Brazilian Joseph Carneiro (Br) South American Champion, Miguel Willis (Aus)……………….
Other countries will be highly represented : South Africa with Rowlins Tyrone, Cabo Verde with Mittou, Holland with Sender Lenten…………..
A great international casting that will face the local leaders : the italians, Piercarlo Ricasoli, Lorenzo Giovanelli………
The women board is also quite promising :
Will the young spanish phenomenon Gisela Pulido, 2005 world champion, confirm her leadership on this first leg of the 2006 world cup tour ? What we can say is that she will have to count with some of the best
female competitors of the moment : Noelia Nunez Macias KPWT vice champion 2005, the Turkish champion Julie Simsar, Margarida Ribeiro Portuguese Champion, Perine Scelland new Caledonian
