F-One Bandit 12 or 14m..?

I need some input on a purchase decision...

I currently have a 10m Bandit III, and a Trax IV 134x39 board.
I am 178cm and approx 74kg, and not that experienced kitesurfer yet.

I live in Egmond aan Zee, where there almost always is quite some waves with the wind.

In the summer though, there is often a bit to little wind for the 10m, so I want like to get a second bigger kite. I borrowed an ozone 14m when I was on holiday in Egypt this autumn, and it was really fun. It was like driving a big Mercedes on a Sunday compared to my 10m Ferrari.

The question I cannot really answer before I try it, is: Do I get a 12m or 14m?
I really like the Bandit, so I will stay with f-one.

What I would like with the kite is to be able to go upwind in light wind, and just have a nice time surfing.

Input before I burn the cash very appreciated. 12 or 14m?? (Next year I will probably replace the 10m.)

With your weight you won't need a 14m kite in Holland.

12m might give you some extra low-end, but .... go for a nice waveboard and you will have much more fun with your 10m.

10 or 12 doesn't realy matter.

I'm 76 kg's and starting with my 10 from 15 kts.
So if you go for a 12, you will be able to go from 12 kts.
The 14 will let you go a bit earlier.

Bear in mind that the 14m is quite heavy and will turn slow.
It might be an idea to take a bigger 2nd hand board, which will float earlier.

I tried the 12m Bandit V, in 12-14 kts and it was fine!

If you want to go with minimum wind, I would buy the 14.
But if you progress and you start jumping and doing tricks, you will realize that below 20 kts there isn't much fun... ;)

If I where you, I would just try to progress with the 10m and later on buy a 7m for those windy days (above 30 kts) and have some real fun! :D

Upgrade your bandit 3 10m to a bandit 5/6 10m. The low-end is so much better! Don't buy a 12 or 14. These sizes will not improve your low-end wind range. The bigger kites are only for heavy kiters.

I'm 78 kg and ride a F-one acid 132 with a 7,9 and 10 m bandit 6. The difference between 9 and 10 is massive! And the 11 doesn't give me any extra low-end wind rage.

I would say sell your F-one kite and buy yourself a better one.

Great input, and please add more experience if there is ;-)

My gut feeling from reading so far is: Get a 12m a bigger wave board and then replace the 10m with a 9m (or 8m) next year.

That was not an nice answer of me. Here some thoughts of myself.

With your weight and here in Holland an combo of 8m and 11/12m is perfect.
When you buy a waveboard with that you can almost go with every wind.

But if you like to go out with a little bit less and more wind I would advice to buy a 7,10 and 14m.
I myself have the same set and I can go from 10 to 45 knots. What also count is your skill level.
Also I would not recomment someone to kite above 30 knots if you do not have perfect kite control.

And that bigger kites are only for the kiters that weight more is completely bullshit!

I didn't take your remark very heavy, marc_87 ;-) I know the Bandit got much better after No III. I got a little rip in it, which was very professionally fixed by van den berg, but I also know it means that the secondhand value of it drops. So I'll use it another season, and see if I can find a nice secondhand wave board to add with a 12m, I think, this year. I need to improve before I can go out in 30 knots. Steep snowy mountains are fine, but stormy water not yet ;-)

Sounds like the best plan. Especially the board is going to give you a lot more low end
