Dear Riders,
As we all know there are some issues going on with KPWT/IKA and the economical crisis. The issues with the IKA have been resolved and the PKRA will be working together with the IKA from now on. But the economical crisis is still hurting us.
Some events are having problems bringing up the full amount of price money (€40.000). Therefore, during the PKRA event in Leucate, France, we agreed to allow two events of our choice to have a 25% discount
Even with a 25% discount on the price money, Movistar, the sponsor of the event in Tarifa decided that they preferred to change of organization and to go with the KPWT. The main reason is that it is a lot cheaper to organize a KPWT event instead of a PKRA event. The total prize money for the Freestyle KPWT event in Tarifa will be €15.000 Euros.
Since the PKRA allows riders to compete in any event with less price money then a PKRA event, there will be a big chance that a lot of PKRA riders would want to go to the KPWT events, especially the event in Tarifa.
The thing we want to point out is that if we decide to compete in this event, we will show all the event organizers and sponsors that we will show up, even if the total prize money is only €15.000 Euros.
If that’s what we are looking for, the PKRA will be able to add at least 3 additional events this year with a total price money of €15.000 Euros per event.
However, the consequences for this will be catastrophic because the chances are high that the events and sponsors will lower their price money in the future, knowing we will show up anyway.
We will loose our good status as a sport and as a world tour. When the economy recovers it will take at least another 3 to 4 years until the price money will be back at its normal level instead of increasing it.
We, the riders of the PKRA, have it in our power to decide how we want to push the sport and the events. We will have to make some choices and sacrifices but it will be good to look at the long term, instead of only looking at what we can get now.
