Slis from Hanglos.nl contacted him and here is the story.
One of the most tallented and nicest kitesurfers I know choose to study instead of kitesurfing.
Rui Meira, in former times a Naish rider wich i've met during the kitepunks and several other events was always on top of his game, and now he is playing other stakes.
I asked Rui on Facebook (the place to meet world class riders) what he was doing.
He replyd me this: well this year i got back into college, i started studying business management and so far everything is going pretty good even after 5 years just kiting. besides that i still kite whenever I feel like it, mostly a waveboard or something bindings also a lot of regular surfing and stand up paddle surfing and windsurfing as well as alot of freeriding moutain biking.
So no real sponsors to be able to compete and i guess i just don't feel like it anymore, right now i have the chance to do so many diferent things as well as challenge myself with school once again.
An old video from ExtremElements for those of you who are nostalgic.
So dear kiters (especially the young one), now that you have read this, remember that school is important and go back to your homework.
kiting is fun and we also need to look into the future and make our future work to enjoy kiting even more.
