Firewire has teamed up with top Kitesurfer Felix Pivec to launch the Felix Pivec Pro Series, 3 Firewire boards built specifically for kitesurfing.
“Felix started riding our boards over 2-years ago after buying them from retail stores in Hawaiiâ€Â, said Mark Price Firewire’s CEO, “the relationship could not be more authentic than that, so it was only natural that we partnered with him. We were also comfortable that hi-performance kite ‘surfboards’ were consistent with our Brand DNAâ€Â.
“We hit it off and started collaborating immediatelyâ€Â, added Felix, “The Pro Models represents the best of both worlds, taking the incredible shapes and foils of Nev’s 35 years in surfboard design, Firewire’s Future Shapes Technology and combining that with extensive R&D to determine the best construction for added durability without sacrificing weight or optimum flex. The boards also include inserts for those who like riding with strapsâ€Â.
The Firewire Kiteboard ‘mini’ site has a homepage link on Firewire’s main site at www.firewiresurfboards.com . The boards will only be available in the US, Australian and European markets initially, while other markets will come online shortly thereafter.
Firewire Surfboards entered the market 3-years ago with the belief that there were no longer exponential performance benefits to be gained from changes in shape. The basic design dynamics of today’s high performance surfboard had been refined to the point where only incremental improvements could be made.
Firewire believes that exponential improvements in performance can only be achieved through new materials and construction methods, which in turn will open up new design opportunities.
