When unpacking, we are not disappointed.
A stylish design and good high standard of finishing (my wife, believing I bought a new board, even said to me "well, for once, your board looks very good!" Women!!!).
The combo pads/straps are well made and hold your feet perfectly whilst riding.
The board has a pretty good flat area on the bottom.
The heel-side fins are in 5cm and 4cm for the toe-side fins in order to facilitate both slide and pop. ABS sidewall and tips shaped to limit the spray.
The pads are made of triple density of foam, gas pedal (toe hooks) under the toes, ergonomic depression for the heel and well constructed arch for the foot.
The combo binding was made in conjunction with a chiropodist.
The straps are laced and hold the feet perfectly. As the straps fit very well a good adjustment is required before the session to the riders that perform many no foot tricks.
The laces are based on the concept "one shot" that allows the rider to tighten the whole strap at once without needing to pull on each part of the lace.
When riding: the board has a large planing area (the width is maintained for a a significant length of the board) but is not only designed for heavy riders. It fast energetic board under the feet, playful but with really good upwind performance.
We would even go so far as to say the upwind is very good for a board that, in appearance, looks more of a freestyle board.
Its appeal is a clever mix of free-ride and freestyle.
Very multipurpose, it allows the rider to do every thing without compromise.
The very atypical shape of this board, with a flat central area between the straps can surprise at first. On the water, it carved without pushing to much water and it slides very well.
One of the most positive points is the facility to produce immense pop and the very soft landings. This board is therefore for every level, from beginners looking for comfort and facility to experienced riders looking for dynamism and pop.
Up to now it has won over every rider who had tested it in conditions from completely flat, wavy and crossed choppy water.
The board is very very agile in choppy water, with the wood core playing perfectly its role of dynamic shock absorber. The boards upwind ability is very good and very fast which allows you to easily ride all of the water area.
The kite-loop fans with full speed landings will find a weapon that will help them to preserve their knees after each loop, with the width and the woodcore playing their part.
The new-skool fans will be very happy with the feeling and hold of the foot in the combo pads/straps because when well adjusted, it like glue on the feet and it is possible to dial in those huge pops without worrying about leaving the board behind.
Positive points : a great balance between quality & price, easy to use.
Negative points : an added size for heavy riders might be missing (> to 85/90kg)
