Palmolive Kitesurf World Cup wraps up for another year
This year has been the most fantastic year for wind and weather conditions here in St. Peter-Ording, Germany. The sun has been out nearly every day and record-breaking temperatures have embraced hundreds of fans, spectators, locals as well as vacationers from all around the world.
More than 114 competitors from 20 different nationalities competed in a total of 3 disciplines such as freestyle, race and board off.
Race director Olaf Van Tol set the final course for racing this morning. A total of 2 races were raced today, marking the end of a very successful event here in Germany.
It was the first time that all competitors were able to cross the start line at the same time, which caused a little bit of confusion and lots of tangles. French rider Bruno Sroka (Cabrinha, FRA) would have finished first in the first race of the day however he crossed the finish line incorrectly. This error made it possible for Julien Kerneur (Takoon, FRA) to overtake the lead finishing first followed by Bjorn Rune Jensen (Cabrinha, DEN) in second and Ozog Blazei (North, POL) in third. In the second race of the day, Julien Kerneur (Takoon, FRA) managed to take the lead once again followed by Bruno Sroka (Cabrinha, FRA) in second place and Pedro Montenegro (Best, BRA) in third.
In the women’s division, Steph Bridge (North, GBR) rushed her way across the finish line first in both races of the day followed by Caroline Adrien (Cabrinha, FRA) who finished in second in both races. German rider Kristin Boese (Best, GER) managed to finish third in the first race of the day however Nayara Nicarinoo (Best, BRA) took the third place position in the last race of the competition.
