New Caledonia Confirmed, Australia & South Africa Cancelled
Oct-04-2011
The final PKRA event this year will be held in the beautiful lagoon of Noumea in New Caledonia and is confirmed for the following dates: 30th of November until December 4th, with registration of the 29th of November.
This event will be dedicated to Freestyle only with 37.000 dollars of prize money to partake between the best riders in the world.
The PKRA is excited to come once again in New Caledonia for the last tour stop of the year and it promises to be an outstanding event with perfect conditions on the spot of Pointe Magnin.
Youri Zoon (NED, Slingshot) is already the 2011 world champion, however he will try to become the first rider in history to win every single event of the year. Currently he is undefeated after 6 events and mentioned in a recent interview it would be a dream come true to finish the year like that.
In the girl’s division Gisela Pulido (ESP, Airush) is now the 2011 World Champion but Bruna Kajiya (BRA, Flexifoil) and Karolina Winkowska (POL, Slingshot) are only a couple of points apart, this event will determine the second place overall for the season.
The last two events of the year, Australia and South Africa are cancelled due to financial reasons. The apparition of the KSP created difficulties to find sponsors as the PKRA does not get appropiate points towards the wave world ranking anymore.
The PKRA is now working to get a better point system (based on the size of the wave, the prize money and the lenght of the event) for next year together with the IKA and the KSP in order to get more wave events, with prize money and quality waves.
