After extending the deadline several times in hope of a positive outcome, the KSP today took the hard decision to cancel the KSP event scheduled for Gran Canaria/Canary Islands at the end of this month.
This comes off the back of last months Portugal event being cancelled and is further evidence that the global economic crunch is hurting Europe more then anywhere during 2013.
KSP World Tour manager Terry Mckenna describes the turn of events: "KSP are bitterly disappointed that the first two events of the year have fallen over after such a promising outlook to 2013. I have been at the helm of boardsports for almost a decade and this is the biggest instability in the global arena that I have ever seen, non more so then Europe which is really feeling the pinch worse then anywhere.”
“We have had a lot of positive talks with new potential events and in general the sport is moving forward, but the reality is that the KSP is only in its third year and compared to other sports is still in its infancy and dealing with teething problems that other more established tours already have behind them” said Mckenna.
The KSP will continue to work hard behind the scenes to confirm remaining events and develop new relationships with promoters worldwide.
