We did the crossing on Monday, we left from Lowesoft England, we had a 14 knots of shore wind and had problems to start. The first hours I ride with the 225cm board, than the wind picked up and I chanced to a 158 board. But it was to bumpy to get a relaxed stance, the swell was 3m and we had a off wind course. So after a hour I chanced to the big board again. The rest of the distance I rode with the big custom board.
My GPS had this numbers:
- total distance 202km - average speed 25 km/h - max speed 61.08 km/h
We had a N/W wind between 4 and 6 Bft and I rode the Vegas5 14m all the way.
It was a big big experience, after 3 hours I get into a flow where everything worked together, with a constant 30/35 knots I beame one with the material, sea and wind. The last 60 km was hard because I lost my coordination and feeling in my legs, but that feeling is back now with 300%, haahah.
Gerhard ( my partner) had halfway problems with his lines and couldend get another kite lifted up after a hour and three kite/lines in a knot he give up. He stepped into the boot.
At last we got 1 World record off longest distance with a kite (100 seamiles) and one record for the fastest wind craft on this track. 7 hours and 55min. the last record was from 2 windsurfers. They did it in 7 hours and 58 minuts
