The new Vegas 06 is the ace up the sleeve of the new school kite generation. There are three key features that combine to make the Vegas the hot kite for Spring 2006: Cambattens, Trim Tips, and the 2 Pump System. Here are the details.
Trim Tips
The new Trim Tips describe the geometry of the wing tips, and is one of the keys to the huge de-power range. Compared to a traditional arc kite, the Trim Tips are angled up at the front, so when using front attachment point B you are moving the pivot point further up the leading edge. When easing the bar out to de-power the kite, this higher pivot point B lets the kite tilt much farther forward than a traditional arc kite. This extra low angle of attack is what gives all of the de-power.
This mode will obviously appeal to everybody who is currently using bow kites or thinking about switching to this design. It provides a huge depower range and makes the kite safe and easy to handle, particularly for newcomers in all situations. You can sheet out when a gust hits the kite and you will not loose your edge and grip of the board in the water. An average rider at 80 kg can easily jump from a 16m2 Vegas 06 to a 10m2 Vegas 06. Also all guys that are into wave riding will love this mode. You can totally de-power the kite while riding the wave, allowing you to surf the wave.
New school and wake style riders might prefer the lower attachment point A. It is just perfect for fast and smooth turns and gives a steady pull on the bar. The kite will feel more like a Vegas 05, but still perform like a Vegas 06!
The Vegas 06’s flying characteristics are generally very forgiving with smooth power development and constant pull. With the right amount of pressure on the back lines the rider is never in doubt about the position of the kite during jumps.
