George Town, on Great Exuma, is the capital and the largest settlement in the Exumas, and a great town from which to base your holiday. The town itself is relatively small, and most businesses are in the center of town, which itself surrounds Lake Victoria, named after, of course, Queen Victoria. (The Bahamas became a British Colony in the late 1700’s, and still recognizes itself as once having been under the Crown.) |
