The forecasts were bad for the beginning of this Mondial du Vent so it was hard to hope for the speed contest in good conditions… But finally, the Tramontane always faithful to Leucate rose in genuine blower to make it possible to launch 4 sets on a ultra technique and disordered run. Speed flirted with 40 knots, falls were violent in consequences : the show was magnificent.
The 2 firsts set take place in terribly difficult conditions and waves keep demolishing the run and the riders get fears more than once. It is necessary to skirt the edge of beach to hope to scrape some knots.
During the 1st set, it is the “varois†Christophe Prin-Guenon that makes the best and takes the 1st place with a mean of 33.78 knots, His best chrono being 34.35. The duel Caizergues/Prin-Guenon from the previous contest in Port St Louis is shacked with the arrival of a brand new: Raphaël Salles !!! F.One’s boss and team manager from Alexandre Caizergues and Sylvain Maurin set things right and is 2nd on the 1st set ! he makes an average of 33.47 knots. In 3rd position comes the leader of the world championship after Port St Louis (and protected by Raphaël Salles) Alex Caizergues. Then come Sébastien Cattelan, Dirk Hanel, José Alarcon l’espagnol, Fabio Ingrosso (the snowkite champion) that created the surprised with this 7th position…
on the girls side, the trio of Port St Louis is on the run. Aurélia Herpin makes it 1st on this 1st set with the excellent speed of 30.18 knods average. Then comes Fabienne D’Ortoli and Charlotte Consorti.

Take note that : Bjorn Dunkerberque’s best passage by windsurf was 35.21 knots for this 1st set. This is faster than the kites.
