NEW FEMALE WORLD RECORD!!
Karen Hou has reclaimed the crown! Her 24.6m jump off the coast of Magong, Taiwan on Sunday tops Gabby Pioraite’s 23.6m best, a record that stood for almost two years.
40+ kts rocked the Taiwan Strait all weekend, generating some hesitation by Karen to test her luck after recovering from an injury a year prior. But after a day of holding out, she hit the water on a 6m kite and on her second jump became the first woman over 24m… and then promptly called it a day. Mission complete!
Karen’s no stranger to 20m+ jumps, recording some of the first Female World Records on WOO in 2016 and 2017. She’s often seen flying her trusty F-ONE Bandits, but for this one, it was a tiny CORE XR5 that took her into orbit.
The spot on Magong has seen a few XL sessions over the years, including 20m+ jumps by Philipp Schonger and Martin Anderson. Karen hopes the spot generates more visitors in the future, saying that she really hopes “the pro guys will visit one day and set new records”
Congrats Karen on a new World Record and more epic sessions to come!
