Appletree Surfboards is a relatively small company in the surfboard industry, growing
internationally and is looking for a sales manager based out of our office in the Netherlands,
Hillegom. You will be working closely with the brand manager and the marketing manager. Your
main responsibilities will be:
Manage organizational sales by formulating and executing a sales strategy.
Setting and meeting the goals and targets set.
Acquisition of new clients.
Maintain client relationships.
Expansion in new and existing markets.
Track and report on the sales goals.
The position of Sales manager is a flexible one, with lots of opportunity to travel, surf and work
remote but the home base is in the Netherlands.

A management position in a young team of driven entrepreneurs. The option to work in the ever
changing kite, wing and surf markets. Work closely with our pro rider team, our international
group of retailers, distributors and agents.
Flexible hours, for instance a surf in the morning, an online meeting with a client in the US in the
evening is no problem. There will be plenty of travel, with international events during the
(summer) season. There is an option to work from the Portugal office/factory over the winter
period. Full access to all the current products and early prototypes.
Salary based on experience and with room to grow or participate.
R e q u i r e m e n t s
We are looking for someone with proven experience in international sales, not necessarily in the
board/water sports or extreme sports area, but being an active practitioner of kite- surf- wing
and/or foil will make things easier. You will be working in the head office in the Netherlands,
closely together with the brand manager and marketing manager. Furthermore we are looking
for someone with the following experience:
Experience in planning and implementing sales strategies.
Experience in customer relationship management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
As the international sales manager you will have to be able to work in a structured and analytical
manner and will be held accountable for results. Providing market insights and laying out long
term strategies and reporting them to the rest of the management team.
English, Dutch and Portuguese are the main languages in our company. Fluent in English is a
must, the others are nice to have.

Appletree was founded in the Netherlands by the brothers Wieger and Jorrit Buurma. The search
for making more sustainable and durable surfboards led them to develop a complete new way
of producing surfboards.
Appletree is mainly active in the kite- wing- and foilboard markets, but we have our roots in
normal surf and we still produce normal surfboards as well.
