The Kite 'n' Motion Portimao World Tour Freestyle event, to be held July 23-28, 2007 at the scenic Alvor Beach in Portugal, has been cancelled and changed to an official PKRA Course Racing Tour Stop. Racers from all over the world will congregate for this first event in a series of competitions throughout the year in order to determine a future course racing world champion. All competitors get to race; no heats or elimination rounds; no age restrictions or limitations; there are no judges and the fastest person to finish the course wins.
In conjunction with the racing event, a Kite Masters competition will be held, featuring the top 16 male and female PKRA riders. In a new and different group format, competitors will battle it out for a handsome purse and the “Kite Master†invitational title.
The top male riders invited are Aaron Hadlow (Flexifoil, UK), Kevin Langeree (Naish, Netherlands), Youri Zoon (Slinghsot, Netherlands), Alvaro Onieva (Best, Spain), Cesar Portas (North, Spain), Rui Meira (Naish, Portugal), Rocky Chatwell (Superfly, USA), Mallory De La Villemarque (North, France), Madison Van Heurk (Naish, US Virgin Islands), and Reno Romeu (North, Brazil).

Kiteboard Course Racing is quickly gaining in popularity because of its objective scoring which provides clear winners, the ability to participate in it regardless of age or skill level, and its enormous spectator appeal. Kiteboarding deserves to be an Olympic sport and with the advent of the Kiteboarding Course Racing, hopefully the joy and exhilaration of the sport can make its first steps towards that dream, not only for the athletes and participants, but for the viewer’s sake as well. In the mean time, be sure to join in or follow the exciting results of this premiere Kiteboarding Course Racing World Championships, to be held in one of Europe’s premiere Kiteboarding destinations, Portimao, Portugal.
