"Here are the eight basic steps to performing a Frontside Air.
Step 1 Coming out of a nice hack or cutback, precede down the line and initiate some speed for this trick. Speed is one of many key concepts when doing a Frontside Air.
Step 2 Look down the line for a nice section that allows you to get some pop. A good section is one that is a few seconds from lipping up. If you see a section that’s still rolling or already throwing out, you either won’t get the pop you need or you will get thrown into the flats. A nice lip allows you to get height on your air.
Step 3 Continue on the wave as if you were doing a toeside bottom turn with your kite medium low and moving into the wind window. Move toward and into your section that is almost about to lip up. Remember to obtain some speed. (A wider stance may make it easier at first.)
Step 4 Whip the kite around back into the other direction and angle your kite to be high when you come out of your air. Approach the lip with speed and bend your knees. Position your body over your board. Do not lean back, or your board will rocket out from you.
Step 5 At this time, your kite should not only be pulling you downwind but up and giving you some lift as well. Now pop, hop, ollie or whatever you want to call it, as much as you desire. The higher you ollie, the higher you’ll get. Now you should be in the air.
Step 6 There are a few different ways to keep the board positioned under your feet. One way is to grab your toeside rail with your back hand, which gives your air some style and a grab. Another idea would be to cushion the board under your feet and bend your knees. If you have straps, make sure your feet are secured in your straps tightly. You could hurt yourself if one of your feet comes out.
Step 7 Spot your landing. Hopefully you can spot a nice place in the whitewater. Landing in whitewater cushions your landing a ton. If you land in the flats, remember to absorb the landing by bending your knees; otherwise, your heels will be crushing the deck of your board. Proceed out of your trick with some speed.
Step 8 Claim, then check your board to see if all your stickers are still there."
