The II-nd edition of the Polish Cup-FORD KITE CUP took place last weekand at Jurata, the most popular summer destination located at the Hel penisulla.
The best Polish kitesurfers along with the guests from Russia and Lithuania met to fight it out in three kite disciplines: Freestyle, Best trick and Kiteloop for 25000 PLN fund by event sponsors Ford, Sony, Quiksilver and Naish.
The first contest day was without sufficient wind , so organizers ran a wakeboarding contest to please lots of spectators and competitors, who were ready for any action on the water. They showed lots of skill and spectacular action, as well as some awesome crashes.
On the second day organizers moved the event location to a small island at the bay, due to the direction of the wind, where the conditions were better and wind was more consistant.
Shortly after landing on that island, competitors started their warm up and the first discipline: Freestyle single elimination had started.
Most of the latest moves had been seen and some of the heats were really close, due to the improved skills of the riders. Mobe 5, front mobe to blind, Kl slim chance, kl flat3, blind judge, 313, grabbed KGB and moves similar that have only been seen in the semi's and finals.
Biggest surprize came from 15 year old girl, Karolina Winkowska, who competed against the men and advanced to the semifinals causing some serious upsets. With the tricks she performed like: kl s-bend to blind, blind judge, and to biggest surprize: cleanly landed kl hp, She battled for highest prizes.
But for her semifinal opponent 17-years old Victor Borsuk, it was not enough. He has previously perfectly executed, Mobe5, front Mobe, Slim Chance, KGB, Blind Judge, 313 , some nice grabs and clearly advanced to the final where He met Janek Korycki, who beat a fiercly competitive Lukasz Ceran in the semis.
The final heat was worth to watch, as both of the riders, Janek and Victor perfectly executed their tricks, with speed and nice style. But at the and it was Janek who won the final.
The second elimination was run shortly after and the results of the final four remained the same, with another spectacullar final between Victor and Janek. Both were in top form, but again it was Janek who landed more powerful tricks and kl hp with grab and was announced the Winner of Frestyle discipline.
After short brake second discipline: kiteloop was run. This time it was Victor who did the most radical downloop and won, leaving Janek with second and Karolina with third place.
Than again after short brake the third discipline was conducted: Best trick, where Height and technical dificulty were counted 50/50% .
Again it was Victor who showed the best trick; high, but at the same time really powered Mobe. Second was Janek with KL HP, third Lukasz Ceran, and 4-th Karolina Winkowska!
What a Day for that little girl Warrior!!
What a great Day of competition. Wind, Sun, Fun and the spectacullar kite action on the water!
