News > 23/11: Malik wins long distance race

Mali9k Bouchenafa (ALG) won the long distance race in Brasil. The about 20 km downwinder took him 40.46 minutes. Malik is a speed specialist but even in a competiton he can pull it of. His fellow F-One teamrider Arnaud Murcia took second place. The French look to be the speed nation in kiteboarding.

The course was set to start at the event site and finish about 20km downtown Fortaleza. The wind was strong, riders were riding 12 to 14 meter kites and the ocean was choppy.

Yesterday Stef de Jong was the testrider for the course. Unfortunately he missed a bouy at the start and had to go back to get it. But after taking over other competitors he came in fourth.

It was a great start of the event. Perfect organisation and conditions. Looks to be promosing!
