The first day of the Paros Kiteboarding World Cup 2005 started strong with 18-25 knot winds, which steadily dropped through the day, finally ending with a wind delay by the late afternoon. The men’s qualifiers kicked off around mid day with 24 (of a total of 40) men trying to be one of the 16 to reach the main event. Unfortunately, one of the top riders on tour, Christian Holley, injured himself in warm-up, straining both of his knees. The official medical report is that he will need at least a month to recover, which will be tough for him as he is tearing up the ranks this year. Leo Estrado and Joe Ciastalus were quick to help him out of the water and the able bodied rescue squad on hand then tended to his injuries. Most are recommending he rehabilitates, but he wants to compete, so he will make a final decision tomorrow before his heat...
