It was a fun, action packed day here in Leucate, France. The sun was out shinning in full force as the wind blew with a little less force than yesterday at about 20-25 knots throughout the day. Riders had the opportunity to take advantage of another great day of wind. The event here in Leucate has been spectacular, as it is year after year. After yesterday’s completion of the freestyle single and double eliminations, today was the day for all riders to take their riding levels down a notch and have some fun in the Volkswagen Utilitaires “Best Trick” discipline. The judging criteria for the best trick discipline was based upon 80% height and 20% degree of technical difficulty.
After a spectacular day at the beach here in La Franqui, it was Dominican rider Luis Miguel Martinez (StarKites, DOM) that was in the spotlight taking first place followed by Belgian rider Christophe Tack (Liquid Force, BEL) in second place followed by the 2011 Mondial du Vent Freestyle Event Champion Youri Zoon (Slingshot, NED) in third place.
The women also had the opportunity to show the crowd that women can fly high through the air as well. Gisela Pulido (Airush, ESP) is known to have the ability to skyrocket high into the air finishing the best trick discipline in first place followed by Karolina Winkowska (Slingshot, POL) in second while Holly Kennedy (North, GBR) takes third place.
