After a whole year of competing on the British Tour the championship came down to the final event in Blackpool. There was 400 points between me and the 2010 British Champion Ned Taylor.
We had an insane forecast for the first day of the comp, it was blowing 40 knots gusting up to 50 throughout the day, it was the windiest I’ve ever competed in! The BKSA team decided to run a slope style battle where we had to throw down our best and biggest kiteloop, big air and a technical trick. There was a lot of epic stuff going down-Ali Barrett threw the biggest kiteloop I have ever seen, he was fully lit on his 6M and went massive with a delayed backroll after it, It was just sick!
Day 2 the wind was pumping it was 7m weather but not quite as strong as the day before. It was still some of the strongest winds I’ve competed in; I used my 7m for the whole comp. First off I had two heats against John Bleiker, I progressed through and went into the Final against Dan Sweeney. Dan and me had been travelling together a bit this summer – he has improved loads! It was a really close final. I was pretty happy that I got switch and reg back mobes and threw down a crow mobe.
I just nicked the win off Dan – the judges said it was a very close final. I am stoked to be the new British champion! J I would like to thank my sponsors, North, Airbound Apparel, ION and Smuggling Duds for making this possible and a big thanks to the whole BKSA crew for putting on all these sick events!
