After 2 nice weeks of practising in Cumbuco, decided to compete on this international competition that has been happening for years since it first was a PKRA in 2004.
A month ago I decided to change a little thing on my setup and threw away my old footstraps to ride on boots full time. I think this change will and already is helping me improving my riding. Since I’ve switched I can do my tricks with a lot more power, style and even consistency.
Anyway, this was one of the reasons why I decided to compete on this event, to see how that change would affect my riding in competition, specially with the really choppy water we had on the event.
This event was already run with the new format that we will use for the PKRA next year, where they only count the best 7 tricks you do in a heat out of 12 attempts. My experience with that system was pretty good, can’t wait to compete with it next year!
The competition went pretty good for me, managed to win despite of the high level of the local riders. There were some really big brazilian names such as Carlos Madson (3rd at this year’s PKRA Brazil), Evandro da Silva (2nd at 2008 PKRA Brazil), Tomais Teixeira, the new talent and Brazilian Champion Eudazio da Silva. All of them were riding insanely good, so I had some really taugh heats, but I had some good ones. The final was one of my best heats where I landed a clean Blind Judge 5, S-mobe 5, mobe 5, switch back mobe, s-mobe 7, switch and regular KGB, front blind mobe…
This competition gave me a lot of motivation to start competing in boots from now, so if you follow PKRA New Caledonia you will see me riding them. Hope you like the difference on my riding!
