Windy today, picked up slowly and reached a good 24 knots, a little bit gusty now and then but certainly not that bad.
The weather was good as usual, sunny and a little bit of clouds here and there.
Men:
The fourth heat of the first round was the first one to get out today with Gianni Aragno (ESP) alone is his heat; Sky Solbach (USA) got injured yesterday and compressed (might of broke) his shoulder. Some hard heats for the men with Etienne Lhote (FRA) who didn’t advance from Ruben Lenten (NED), Jojo Carneiro (BRA) neither didn’t make it trough to the second round, he lost from Alex Tritten (FRA). Another though heat was Daniel Anderson (KA) and Alvaro Onieva (ESP), both solid young riders with a good level, Alvaro took the winning place from Daniel with a lot of good powered handle passes and a lot of variety. Aaron Hadlow (UK) won from Alex Soto (DOM REP), Alex was fighting to get his place in the second round with double handle passes (not landed), kiteloops and some really good moves, Aaron who sailed a good heat went on to second round where he met Julian Kidd (KA) Aaron was on fire in that heat and landed almost every jump he made and went on to the third round (quarter finals). Advancing too to the quarterfinals were Andre Phillip (ANT) with some sick wakeboard moves (one of them a rapped Mobe) Martin Vari (ARG), Jose Ciriaco (DOM REP), Gianni Aragno (ESP), Jaime Herraiz (ESP), Abel Lago (ESP) and Alvaro Onieva (ESP).
In the quarterfinals Martin Vari advanced from Andre Phillip, a close heat with plenty of action, a back loop with a flat 3 was one of them. Local Jose Luis Ciriaco won from Gianni Aragno with loads of style and went against Martin Vari in the semi finals. Also advancing to the semi finals were Jaime Herraiz and Aaron Hadlow.
Martin and Jose battled it out for the place in the final, Martin who was on fire the whole day was probably tired and crashed a bit too much to win the heat, Jose went to the finals against Jaime Herraiz. Jaime won the heat from Aaron Hadlow with some insane powered moves, it very nice heat to watch. The final was full of action from both boys, high handle passes and powered handle passes from Jose Luis with as variety a nice kiteloop and on the other hand we had Jaime with again some really good action, he went for a downloop front Mobe but didn’t land it, though all the rest of his moves were really nice landed, KGB’s, slim chances, kiteloops, he was on fire and he got rewarded for that Jaime was the winner of the single elimination and he definitely deserved it! Congratulations Jaime, you were ripping!
In second place Jose Luis, in third place Aaron Hadlow and in fourth Martin Vari!
Girls:
After 2 rounds of the men the girls were on, all ripping as usual! Ingrid Köllbichler (AUT) went on to the third round advancing from Katrin Lindemann (GER) and Ania Grzelinska (POL), she lost from Angela Peral (ESP) in the third round, Ingrid rode very consistently and had a close heat with Angela. Kristin Boese went all the way up to the semi finals; she won the first heat from Michelle Baillot, then from Susi Mai and lost against Cindy Mosey (NZ). Cindy Mosey started the day well; she went on to the finals aswell, winning from Bri Chmel (USA), Julie Simsar (FRA) and Kristin Boese. In the finals we had Cindy and Angela together, a very close heat, Angela did a sick kiteloop, she was horizontal with her kite and on the other side we had Cindy with an ariel handle pass and a lot of tricks to blind, a hard call for the judges but the final result was Angela winning over Cindy! A very nice heat and both you girls did great, congratulations Angela!
In the losers final we had Kristin Boese and Ingrid both did a nice heat aswell; the wind was already getting a bit gusty (that’s a normal thing in the evening), both girls started the heat with a board off and went on to unhooked moves to blind and a lot variations in the moves, Ingrid ended in fourth place, Kristin in third place followed by Cindy in second place!
Tomorrow we will go on to the double elimination, everything can still happen, so let’s see who will be ripping tomorrow but tonight we have to party in the Lax bar!
