Zondag 2 februari vanaf 12.00 live vanaf Big Bay, King of the Air 2014. De livestream is te volgen via: http://redbullkingoftheair.co.za/live-stream
Update 31-1:
Code oranje betekent in Nederland een flinke wind, in Zuid-Afrika dus ook. Iedereen staat klaar voor komende zondag. Aaron Hadlow nog alvast een voorproefje (aan een flexifoil!):
It seems the wind gods are finally smiling on us in Cape Town and the forecast for this Sunday looks great.
We're giving it another 24 hours to confirm that the conditions will hold out for Sunday. If we are a GO for Sunday you'll know tomorrow. (1 Feb 2014)
Event action on the day will only take place after 12pm if you're planning on coming down to Big Bay and should end just before 7pm.
Luckily, it you're not able to be with us in Cape Town you call watch all the action via live streaming here: www.redbullkingoftheair.com.
Update 29-1:
Terwijl Kevin Langeree op zijn facebook page meldt dat er voor komende zondag een flinke bries aankomt, heeft Ruben zich tot King of the Beach gekroond met een hot-launch face/shoulder plant into the beach.
Red Bull King of the Air 2014 window period opens today
Cape Town (South Africa) – The window period for Red Bull King of the Air 2014 opens tomorrow, January 25 and there is a strong South African contingent in the 24 competitor line-up. Jandre Fraser, Luke McGillewie, Andries Fourie, Stuart Downey, Graham Howes and current South African Open Champion, Oswald Smith will be taking to the air to compete against the world’s best.
Smith is excited about taking part in the competition: “Of course I’m a bit nervous competing against the best kiters in the world and there’s definitely a bit of pressure on me as a local but I’m going to go out there and go as big as I can! I’ve been trying to kite every day and make sure I’m ready to take them on. It’d be really cool if everyone came down to Big Bay to support the local guys on the day!”
There have been a few changes to the participant with PKRA 2013 World Champ Alex Pastor renouncing himself from the competition Luke McGillewie (RSA) will take his spot in the lineup.
The event will take place at Big Bay, Cape Town – the date and time completely dependent on weather conditions. The window period for the event will extend to February 9, 2014 and a 24 hour warning will be given ahead of the event taking place. Unfortunately current conditions are not favourable for the event to run this weekend.
