Great news for the Judge Crew. Bas Koole will be the Head Judge for Freestyle in 2014 again. He will be responsible to choose and guide the 6 Freestyle Judges. He will be responsible to update rider with news and important information regarding the competition. If there are any questions about Freestyle please contact us and we will forward your request to Bas.
A few questions which Bas answered for us:
KTE: What do the judges want to see this year during the freestyle competition?
Bas: We’re still looking for technical difficulty. Tricks done with the kite low, coming in the trick with speed and coming out the trick with speed. It would also be great to see more kicker orientated tricks, to show variety during the heat.
KTE: How can a rider prepare himself for the heat? Last year we had some rider missing their heat or misunderstanding the system.
Bas: Read the contest instructions and know your flags! Be in time during the skippers meeting, listen and ask questions at the end of the skippers meeting.
KTE: What is your job as a Head Judge?
Bas: My job as a head judge is to keep all judges in one line and to make sure everybody stays focused during the event. Off course I’m also there to explain the riders why they lost or won, this can be done after the heat.
KTE: 4. How many tricks will count during this heat for this year?
Bas: We keep the same rules as the PKRA, because you should see the KTE as a learning proces for future PKRA riders, so 12 attempts, best 5 counts.
KTE: Any advices for the rider?
Bas: Put your watch around you wrist and go and train your ass off!
