MEAK CHARITY KITESURF CUP 2006 – NYALI BEACH KENYA
In January 2006 for the first time a Professional kitesurf Charity event will be held in Kenya - East Africa.
Photographer and Event Organiser David Sims in conjunction with X-ISLE SPORTS and hosted by PROSURF EXTREME (KENYA) is pleased to announce the MEAK Charity Kitesurf Cup at the Nyali Beach hotel in Mombassa to be held from the 25th January till 4th Feb 2006.
MEAK (Medical and Educational Aid to Kenya) are a charity helping children and people with eye surgery, heart operations and medical supplies on the ground in Kenya. This is a new direction for kitesurfers and the chance to put something back into Africa, a continent we all enjoy to ride in. A visit from orphaned children to watch the event will hopefully take place. The riders and organisers will endeavour to raise awareness for the charity along with funds. Ian Gray - Pro rider, BKSA & KBBT competitor & reigning Kenya Cup holder 2005.
Carrie Begg - Top flight female rider, 4th in BKSA 2005.
Denzil Williams - Pro rider, 2nd BKSA 2005, 2nd KBBT 2005, 2nd wave series BKSA.
Chris Bull - Pro rider, BKSA wave series 3rd 2005.
Keenan Perrin - Kenya Cup Veteran.
Russell Cosh - Writes ‘Badger Baiting’ for UK Kitesurf magazine.
Andrew Henwood - South African rider.
Andrea Woodmansey - Female Rider, new to the BKSA competition.
Dave Ibbertson - (waiting confirmation) Current 2005 British Kitesurf Champion BKSA.
Many local riders have also been asked to enter.
The Event and Location
Event will be rider judged over the competition days. There are different disciplines.
Wave riding - Freestyle -Race Day -Fire Jumping- Memorable moment
There will be a prize giving on the last night when the Trophy will be presented to the Overall winner. Please note, as this is a charity event there will not be a financial prize.
NO HEATS NO PRESSURE JUST SUN AND WARM WATER.
