The KTA is delighted to be joining the Visayas Kite Challenge in its second year as a supporting organiser for what promises to be the events ‘take-off’ year.
The Visayas Kite Challenge will take place between the 9 -13 February 2015 over a 4 day course that will take riders on a unique journey around the coastline of the central Philippines.
Be part of one of the longest Kite races in Kiteboarding- and be part of a different way to of discovering the Philippines. There couldn’t be a better place to organise this event than the coastline of the tropical islands of the Philippines. The Visayas Kite Challenge is a 4 day event- with no restrictions on kite equipment. The distance covered will be depend on the wind directions and strength each day of course, but with good conditions we would estimate between 50-100 km will be achieved each day.
The Visayas Kite Challenge is a timed race, every day counts and we will count your time from the start to reaching your daily finishing point. The times of the each days kiting is then multiplied together to determine the final results and winners. If a competitor cannot compete for one day due to equipment failure or some other reason (but can still join the race again the remaining days) they will get scored for the missed day with the time of the last participant plus 10 minutes.
Note: The actual kiting distance can often be twice as long as the direct line of travel due to wind directions you are dealing with.
The race follows the coastline on the Visayas Island of Panay and the race committee have put all measures in place to make this a safe competition for all riders, but participants joining the Visayas Kite Challenge, do so at their own risk. A valid accident insurance is required for all riders and a waiver form must be signed and handed to the race committee before the start of the competition.
Every participant must bring a personal first aid equipment and carry signal flare, which may also be purchased on registration day. Please check with your airline if you can carry or check in a signal flare before traveling. In addition the race committee requires all riders to carry a mobile phone in a waterproof case. A local sim cards which will both be provided free of charge by the race committee.
The entry fee includes also 3 nights hotel accommodation, breakfast, lunch, dinner and all drinks during the competition. Rider bags will be handed out during registration, which will include your event lycra and some other goodies provided by our sponsors. Transport of the luggage not needed while racing, rescues, transport back to Boracay and finisher medal are also all included in your registration fee.
