« For this move it is essential you maintain a steady speed and not using the kite.
1/ When unhooking from the harness you must slightly go downwind (in order to keep your speed equal) ; hands are tight in the centre of the bar ; you stick you kite at 10 o’clock (if the kite is at the zenith, you will loose your speed but your bar will be to high to catch it back in your back).
2/ You grip pushing on the heels : this is used as an impulsion.
3/ You initiate a 1/2 turn thanks to a small jump, keeping both hands on the bar and as close to you as possible (the feeling is that you want to stick the bar to your hips).
4/ As soon as the board did a quarter turn, release your back hand and turn completely (the kite is in your back) and you bend over (look at the water). This gesture will help your free hand to catch up the bar. Do not forget to make the bar pivot with your wrist otherwise the bar will be on the wrong side!
5/ You recuperate your bar on a frontside position: you can then perform a curve and leave back on the opposite direction (transition) or make your board pivot (turn away) to continue in the same direction.
Little tip : on step 3, make slightly more than a ½ turn (almost ¾ ) in order to get the bar closer and stretch out your lines : the bar will be easier to catch.
Once you get this move, you are ready for blind receptions: railey-blind, front-blind, back-blind…. ! »
