Kiting when you are partners !
Julie Simsar is a french rider living in Puerto Rico together with Antoine Joubert her boyfriend. She talks about her experience living as a couple, a riders’ couple : training, travelling, competitions and daily life… all that is possible ! « Kiting as you are a couple is like living as a couple. There are ups and downs. After spending 3 years of my own life making my own experience, I have concluded that if you can follow some pieces of advice you can live, kite, compete and travel together happily! » So if you are 2 of you kiting and loving each other, or if you have the intention of living together and sharing one same passion…follow Julie’s user guide…. It should work !
1/First of all, learning kite.
I strongly advise you take lessons in a certified school. Taking lessons with your husband, love, boyfriend/girlfriend leads directly to frustration. Nobody wants to hear: "This is not difficult!" or even, " it is the 15th time I’ve been telling you, and I repeat once more….", "Why did you let the kite fall!!", etc.
2/Once you do have the basis (ex: safety, stand on the board, make some edges), riding the two of you becomes very nice. At the opposite of a regular friend, your partner (men or women) will keep an eye on you all the time and will be ready to help you... This does not mean you must push off too far…. !
3/Pratice an identical sport, travelling together does not mean you expect your partner will do everything for you. He(she) can show you the way to perform this or that manœuvre but if you learn and persevere on your own, you’ll feel much more proud of yourself.
