Ze waren er bij RRD al geruime tijd mee bezig; de foil! RRD heeft de foil zojuist aan de importeurs voorgesteld maar nog niet aan het publiek. Ofwel; we zijn de eerste die hem te zien krijgen.
RRD lanceert binnenkort de Dolphin met daaronder keuze uit drie mastlengtes. De mast is van aluminium. De fuselage en vleugels zijn van carbon.
RRD Aviation Academy: drie mast lengtes
De kortere mastlengtes; 65 en 40 cm zijn handig als je net begint met foilen. Vandaar de grappige namen op de twee kortere masten: "Take off 40" en "Touch & Go 65". Op de 90cm mast staat dan ook toepasselijk "Full flight 90" 
RRD Dolphin1 kite foil board
Een full composite board met een houten deck en bodem. Het board is 60x52 cm. Zowel de voetstraps op het board als de sliders aan de onderkant zorgen ervoor dat je de mast naar voren en naar achteren kan plaatsen maar ook de voetstraps kan verplaatsen zodat een ieder zijn ideale instelling kan vinden.
Vleugels
De complete set; mast, fuselage en vleugels wegen 3,9 kilo. De vleugels hebben een medium aspect ratio en is volgens RRD de ideale free ride foil setup. Door de kortere masten eenvoudig om te leren maar daarna met een lange 90cm mast zeker goed voor de next levels van het foilen.

The best way to get into this discipline is w ith the proper equipment. After a year of extensive testing we have developed a hybrid foil that incorporates a strong, durable, cost effective 90cm aluminum mast paired with a full carbon fuselage and changeable rear and front wings.
To reduce the learning curve and make Kitefoiling accessible to everyone, we also offer two different additional mast lengths to the standard mast as an optional ǮRRD Aviation Academyǯ package for schools and beginners; The standard 90cm Full Flight mast, which is included, and the optional 40cm Take Off and/or 65cm Touch & Goǯ masts which are available as spare parts.
One of the most important things is having a wing and fuselage that allows the perfect balance in between your feet. This balance will provide a progressive entrance to foiling, not a difficult one. The front wing, fuselage, and rear wing, enable the foil to rise out of the water progress ively andsmoothly at the right speed, increase stability, and allow it to easy to go down -wind which is essential. Starting with a shorter mast length will also aid to the progressive entrance into kite foiling.
Our really short, 40cm mast (Take off level), is designed to develop the necessary skills to come out of the water, to get th e feeling of a foil under your feet, and the way you position your body on to the board. The reaction to the foil is also exactly the same as the full height mast and will allow you to come out of the water, but not at an intimidating height. Once this stage is mastered, it is time to move to a new lev el, which is the 65 cm mast that allows more of a lift above the water.
The 65cm MAST (Touch & Go level) provides the full foil feel for the first time without being too intimidating. This stage of the progression PROCESS canlast anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks. Once comfortable with the foil in many different conditions without issue, it is time to progress to the full length 90cm mast.
The 90 cm Full Flight mast has the perfect flex and stiffness that is very forgiving.

TECHNOLOGY
We developed each foil component on the basis of the corporation of technology in aluminum design and aluminum technology and pre-preg carbon. So, we wanted to have a combination of these composite materials to create a very reliable, lightweight, but still strong and afford able foil system. Our hydrofoil weights all together 3.9 kg which is a very well weighted foil for a competitive price level as compared to the full carbon foils.
We have worked with very different technologies, and tried to create a lighter foil which allows us to still be able to sell it for an affordable price. That's because you donǯt want to be too expensive for the first clients that buy their first foil for their learning. You can still afford it, you can lear n with it and you can have fun for many months or even years. It's a perfect free ride foil. Itǯs a really easy hydrofoil to learn on that you can use to go really fast to the next level, where it is still loads of fun to use as a progressive freerider. One of the scariest parts when you go foiling is actually going downwind, with this one you will be quickly in full control. You really want to try out something that will never scareS you. This is particularly our aim with this foil.
We have decided to go, for example, for a 4 hold plate on the mast, because It is the safest system. With 4 solid screws you can also move the foil back and forth, depending on your skill level.
An aluminum mast is a monetary and lightweight solution that gave us the possibility to develop a very thin profile mast, that is heavily reinforced inside and has a structural 3 x stringers profile.
RRD Dolphin1 Kite foil board
The Dolphin1 is a full composite board with a wood deck and bottom, it has PVC reinforcement under the heel area and a specia l shaped full concave deck. It allows your feet to be completely pointed down towards the nose and the middle par t of the board, A correct foot and legs position is what you want to have when you foil. The rails have a special pronounced tucked under edge bevel, which reduces the impact when you come down from height.
So touch downs are very smooth when the nose touches the water and allows you to to quickly get up and go again again instead of nosedive. At the same time it has a nice and thin volume that helps the board to stay light; all these characteristics are pe rfect for a freeride shape. The size is 160 x 52 cm, so it is balanced for riders of any type of height and depending on your skills and preferences you can have around 10 cm of footstrap adjustment in the front and in the back, next to the different options of where to pla ce the mast on the bottom.
