The ALL lines connect together quickly and easily. No need wasting time with inter-locking lines. The Method ALL lines hook together via a larks head knot; the same way lines connect to kites. Most of a kite's range is in the length of lines it is flying on! Not many riders understand this and they end up paying physical and monetary price! Now everything has changed, with the KITEs ALL lines, entry level riders can be comfortably working on their waterstarts on the same size kites expert riders are on simply because the new riders are using 14 meter lines instead of competition grade 25 meter lines. |

We asked KITEs Method producer John Holzhall to further explain the ALL lines. Q. Who uses 4 meter lines? A. Anyone teaching or learning. Q. What is the difference between learning with short lines and long lines. A. Mistakes will happen no matter how someone tries to learn. Mistakes can happen safely when using 4 meter lines, not so when using full length lines. One thing for sure, mistakes will happen when learning! Q. Why do schools still use full length lines to teach beginners? A. Kites are sold with full length lines, some instructors simply don't have the knowledge or desire to change them. Q. So they are lazy? A. No, they are simply ignorant. It is much harder and more work to teach on long lines. There is no benefit. You also have to remember that most people teach the way they learned. Most riders learned using full length lines. They got pounded and wasted lots of time getting tea bagged down wind, so that is the way they teach. Q. Sounds painful? A. It is, lots of people who are taught this way don't continue with the sport. It's sad and needless. Q. Do the ALL lines work with flat kites? A. Ya, perfectly. Flat/bow kites on the ALL lines make for a very easy path towards expert riding. Q. So do you use ALL lines. A. Yep, always. Q. Your and expert, why do you need them? A. Range, my smallest kite is a 12 meter flat kite. I use 25 meter lines, if the wind goes over 25 knots, I drop 4 meters to 21 meter lines. Q. So you use a combination of 10m, 7m and 4m lines? A. Yep. Q. Do you ever use 10s, 14s or 17s? A. Oh ya, I used 25m lines in the last Maui to Molokai Challenge. The next day was much windier and there was a nice South swell, I went out on 14m lines and the same 12 meter flat kite...the combo made for perfect carving. It is great to be able to access range, there were lots of guys who didn't go out because the kites they came over on where too big. |
