The event took place from 2-4 March 2007.
The weekend was rained upon, yet it didn't dampen spirits – everybody had a good time off the water, whether they were watching rugby at the backpackers or having a sokkie in the main tent at the fishing event.
There were 45 entrants at the event, and a number of international riders. Amongst the 45 entrants there were 12 ladies which is great to see that they are getting involved. Kevin Langeree and Aaron Hadlow stopped by to give the audience a great freestyle demonstration.
The wind was too gusty on Saturday to hold an event, but everybody ended up driving to a nearby vlei for a rainy and cold free session. On Sunday, there was a bit of a late start due to the previous nights "festivities." We needed to move the event a little down the beach to get better conditions.
The wind was a steady 20knots cross offshore, warm water and about 4 foot waves. We decided to run with the coarse racing – straight out, around a buoy and back to the beach. It was great entertainment – very fast with lots of thrills and spills due to the waves.

Due to the outstanding response from the sponsors, there was an excess amount of prizes up for grabs - these prizes were raffled off to all the entrants – leaving a lot of people very happy. The raffle for the Cyclone Destroyer wave board was a separate draw that got a lot of interest. Bridgette was having a great day – coming second, winning herself a Naish travel bag in the product raffle and the Cyclone board.
The general feeling of the weekend was very positive. Everybody seemed to have a good time, and obviously all winners were very happy. A big thank you goes out to all for getting involved and helping to make the weekend such a huge success. The response I got from you was amazing – it was great to see that everybody got together and got involved.
